Role of Panel
The principle outcome of the Panel’s Review will be to provide recommendations to Government to help ensure that the child welfare system provides better outcomes for Saskatchewan’s children.
The Panel will engage in four key phases of work:
- Plan the Process: Develop a strategy and methodology for the Review and consultations; consider appropriate use of technology; establish work plans to complete the consultations by Summer 2010; and, ensure the Review solicits stakeholder submissions and provides sufficient opportunity for engagement within that timeframe.
- Consultation: Engage stakeholders and include stakeholder perspectives in the Panel’s recommendations. The Panel will develop consultation materials and consultation methodology, review and analyse information received, and develop final written report.
- Interim and On-going Reporting: Provide progress reports to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Child and Family Services and develop a confidential interim report of findings for July 2010.
- Final Report: Provide the Minister of Social Services with a final report in Fall 2010; including recommendations for the Government’s consideration to further improve the child welfare system.
